The challenge of this film was to take all of my gear as carry on only. At first this was a daunting task when I laid all the things I wanted to take on the floor in front of me. However as I stared I started removing gear piece by piece and ended up with a bare bones set up strewn between just two bags. As my large carry on item I selected my Lowepro Pro Tekka 600aw. This bag can hold ALOT of gear and is made of top notch materials. I spent 18 days camping 200 miles above the arctic circle and took this bag as my only bag. It's worth its weight in gold. Within that bag I brought my eMotimo TB3 Black (www.emotimo.com) for the motion control timelapse shots. Its a great, light weight solution with a small footprint. I used a Canon 5d3 and 7D with a 16-35, 24-70, and 70-200 L lenses as my stills camera set up. For video I had a Sony FS700 to collect all the slow motion shots. I used the metabones adapter to adapt my canon lenses to the camera. This was nice because I didn't have to take any extra glass for the sony. In my second bag I took my DJI Phantom 2 with the GoPro Hero 3+ and the Zenmuse H3-3D gimbal and video down link. So in just two bags I was able to carry a whole production package that never had to be checked.
I want to thank Ulf, Nichole, Ryan and the rest of the Maria's place crew for extending such a warm welcome to me and my crazy filming antics. Without you all this film would not have been possible. Also thanks to Norman Camera for their support.
